Fr. Christopher L. Webber has written a biography of James Pennington titled ‘American to the Backbone:The Life of James W. C. Pennington, the Fugitive Slave Who Became One of the First Black Abolitionists.’ Fr. Webber will speak about Pennington’s accomplishments in a program in San Francisco at the Sunset Library on Tuesday, February 11, and the Main Public Library on Wednesday, February 5.
